Day 2!

Im moving into my new place tomorrow, all the signs are my new housemate is going to be cool, she offered me a bacon sandwich when I went to view it, if it is a trap, well, its pretty much worked, lets be honest, free food can pretty much accomplish anything you want to get a man to do.

Work wise Im a professional office monkey, like everyone else I have ideas of jobs I would like to do, but now I am actually trying to do them, but until I have trained myself in the area I want to work in, Digital Advertising, more specifically the data set up of it all, I am working for a charity in a finance office.

This has afforded me an excuse to move to a city I like, Bristol, Ive always liked Bristol, take away all the dick heads who wear scarfs and flat caps despite being 19 and not actually 64, and its ok.

People like tattoo’s, half decent music, and its one of those cities that’s big enough to get some decent events, but no so big, they can charge the earth.

Things I like about Bristol –

1. Its a uni town, this means girls, now at 32 this might seem like a dodgy comment, however allow me to at least make it sound less dodgy.  Bristol seems to be the sort of place that people stay after University or come on their travels of the UK, so as a result theres alot of people who are reasonably young, have shit to talk about, and yes, lots of hotness, but thats neither here than there now is it…..

It has my second favourite coffee shop in the world (the first being Newtown Cafe, but thats mainly because I knew everyone so well that I used to get good morning hugs, which is always nice, if not a little confusing for the next guy in line).  Its a coffee shop called Boston Tea Party)hopefully that link is the first successful example of my HTML practice working…

The staff are awesome, they make as close to aussie coffee as you can get, which is a huge compliment, and yes you guessed it, al the staff are good looking, annoyingly even the dudes are handsome bastards!  Clever marketing, or discriminating against the girthy barista…. you decide.  The thing it absolutely does better than australia is tea, best selection of tea you can get, im sick at the moment, so its amazing, and as a man from a small rugby town, thats so ruff the armchairs have tattoos on their arms and limbs, that one statement could see me persecuted, but its the shit ( I recommend the green dragon)

Bristol also contains radio, tv and media outlets and lots of stand up comedy, all fields I would love to get into, but those are for later posts.

Work was pretty awesome today, I finally understand my job (to a point) which means I can dedicate less of my out of work thinking to it, and get back to applying for media jobs.

Uh what to end on, hows about my top five tv and films –

Tv –

5. Family guy – Evil Monkey was great

4. South Park – Just wonderful wrongness

3. Simpsons – I bent my wookie

2. Archer – Great

1. Futurama – Best written cartoon on tv for years.

Films……uh my brain just dissolved at the prospect of picking 5, so maybe tomorrow.

Every day for the next year

This is fairly unfantastic as promises go, but I am going to post everyday for the next year.

A bit about me.

Hi Im Dai, thats short for David in Wales, it doesn’t mean David, just an abbreviation we welsh folk use because David is to long and Dave sounds gay and English, not that I have any problem with Gay people.

So I am just about as much of an every man as is possible, I am 32, 5’8, about a stone heavier than I should be, a few percent over healthy BMI, which apparently is obese, but Ive watched biggest loser, and its a bit unfair to class me as the same, but I would happily eat all their food, so maybe one day if I work at it.

I spend the first 30 years of my life in the Wales, started off trying to be an actor, then a massive bout of meningitis kind of stopped that, and well, I never really carried on, I went to work, and carried on working with no real set goal, except for phrases like “i want to do something”, cropping up in starbucks or wherever.

Last year I made a change and did somethng I wanted to do, and went to Sydney to tgry something new and get a new experience, perspective, maybe just a sun tan, but just a change, and a refresher on how to make friends and be the outgoing bloke I used to be.

Ill get into why I stopped being outgoing at another point, but I have come back from Sydney with a drive to do everything, and Im going to keep a journal on here, for my own sort of progress report, and anyone else who wants to give me shit when I dont report any progress.

My goal at the moment is to get a job that could get me back to Sydney, but in general its just to work in digital content, so as well as posting a blog of sorts, it should ideally contain my progress self teaching HTML5 and if I can find a cheap enough book CSS.

I move into my new house wednesday, this isnt spectacular but it does meet one goal, which was, live with a complete stranger, it sounds odd, but Sydney reminded me that I am a social steve nash, I make friends, I connect friends to each other, and generally can socialise with the best of them (no that doesnt just mean drinking but Im ok at that to, but had to stop…see first paragraph).

So anyways day one of simplest task accomplished post stuff, ha and I didnt say clunge once.
